[Class 46] [Also in Group VIII] An endless belt 8, having a face ply of perforated rubber and a backing ply of porous fibrous material, is arranged adjacent to a rotary suction drum filter 3 to compress the cake formed thereon. A source 11 of liquid for washing the cake is arranged above the belt. The rubber ply may be of rubber sheet material, as described in Specification 419,015, [Group V], and the backing of woven or knitted fabric or of felted matting.
