Abstract

509,004. Roller bearings. RANSOME & MARLES BEARING CO., Ltd., and HICKLING, F. O. Jan. 24, 1938, No. 4991/39. Divided out of 508,980. [Class 12 (i)] A roller bearing spacing cage is formed from an annulus of material U-shaped in crosssection, the base of the U being cut away at intervals so as to leave a series of radially arranged spacing bars 7, Fig. 3, connected at their ends by concentric rings 9. The U- shaped blank may be formed by machining or stamping. The spaces 8 between the bars 7 may accommodate cylindrical or conical rollers. The rollers may be retained in the cage by means such as is described in Specification 410,891. A pair of slotted rings may be fixed together by metal bands 17, Fig. 14, by welding or otherwise, so as to retain one or more rollers 2 in each space 8. A plurality of such cages may be arranged one within another, Fig. 17, for heavily loaded bearings.
