Abstract

508,757. Optically active amines. TEMMLER, T. H., (trading as TEMMLERWERKE VEREINIGTE CHEMISCHE FABRIKEN H. TEMMLER). Oct. 3, 1938, No. 28661. Convention date, June 1. [Class 2 (iii)] Racemic' #-phenylisopropylamine or a N- homologue thereof is resolved into its' optical components by means of an optically active acid. In an example, the d-tartrate of racemic N-methyl-#-phenylisopropylamine is produced and extracted with hot ethyl alcohol, in which the d-tartrate of d-N-methyl-#-phenylisopropylamine is readily soluble, while the d-tartrate of l-N-methyl-#-phenylisopropylamine is sparingly soluble.
