Abstract

545,044. Acridine compounds; dyes. BOOTS PURE DRUG CO., Ltd., PYMAN, F. L., and BARNES, H. Nov. 4, 1940, No. 16065. [Class 2 (iii)] 3 : 6-Diaminoacridine is prepared by heating m-phenylenediamine monohydrochloride with formic acid in glycerol or other polyvalent alcohol. By using N-monoalkyl-m-phenylenediamine monohydrochlorides, the corresponding dialkyl-diaminoacridines are obtained. The products, which are monohydrochlorides, may be converted, without previous isolation if desired, into the sulphates. An example is given. Specification 137,214, [Class 2 (iii)], is referred to.
