Abstract

508,266. Automatic control systems. SIEMENS & HALSKE AKT.-GES. Aug. 15, 1938, No. 24050. Convention date, Aug. 14, 1937. Addition to 444,673. [Class 38 (iv)] Temperature humidity.- Relates to a regulating arrangement having a return control device serving to restore the regulator to a condition of equilibrium after an impulse has been transmitted as described in the parent Specification and consists in providing a return control device comprising a number of temperature responsive resistances connected in the circuit of the impulse transmitter and arranged in spaced relation to a heat conducting bar heated in dependence on the impulse transmitted. In the form shown in the drawing, in which regulation of the temperature of a furnace 1 by the adjustment of a fuel valve 13 is effected by means of a reversable motor 13, operated by a moving coil instrument 4 connected in a bridge unbalanced by a temperature resistance 2 in the furnace, the return control device comprises temperature responsive resistances 35-40 connected in two groups in the arms of the bridge and arranged in spaced relationship to heat-conductive bars 33, 34 which are heated in dependence on the impulse transmitted by means of heating coils 31, 32. Adjustment of the return control device to the characteristic of the process being controlled may be effected by the positioning of the resistances along the bars and by means of shunt resistances 41-46. The system may also be used for regulating the moisture content in paper during manufacture.
