[Class 78 (i)] Apparatus for turning over articles on a moving conveyer comprises means which lift each article from the conveyer and cause it, when in the lifted position, to turn through an angle of 180‹ so that it returns to the conveyer in reversed position. The apparatus comprises sets of arms a, d which are secured to pivot pins b, e.. The arms a pass between the components of the conveyer c, and the arms d pass between the arms a, the movements being synchronized by connecting the pivot pins by chain-andsprocket gearing g. The pivot pin b is rocked by a driving pulley i through cranks h, k and a link j. Two turning mechanisms may be used connected by a link l when it is desired to restore the articles to their initial position after dirt, &c. has been discharged into the box p after the first reversal. An inclined plough m, Fig. 2, directs each article to a stop n, from which it is released in time sequence by a cam-actuated pusher o, and fed forward by the conveyer until it is arrested by the vertically-disposed arms d in position above the horizontally disposed arms a. When the arms turn, the arms a lift the article and turn it through an angle of 90‹ while the arms d retain it in position. As the arms d approach the horizontal, the partially turned article is deposited on them and is pushed along them by the arms a until it tilts over the pivot pin e and falls on to the conveyer in reversed position.
