Abstract
507,985. Retorts for destructive distillation. MERKEL, G. Oct. 21, 1938, No. 30541. [Class 55 (i)] Flushing gas is supplied to the annular charge in a retort through a gap 6 formed between the arched base 3 of a closed tube 2 and the mouth 4 of a pipe 5 through which the gas is introduced. The base 3 is of greater diameter than that of the pipe 5, and is vertically adjustable.
