Abstract
506,230. Motor fuels. LOVENS, I. June 23, 1938, Nos. 18684, 18685, 18686, and 18687. Convention dates, July 2, 1937, Sept. 1, 1937, Dec. 28, 1937, and May 23, 1938. [Class 91] Motor fuels. are improved by adding thereto a product obtained by treating a non-drying oil dissolved in a solvent with oxygen and hydrogen brought into contact therewith, e.g. by injection unto the solution. Olive or castor oil or a mixture thereof may be used. Preferably hydrogen and oxygen are used alternately with excess of hydrogen. Absorption of the gases is improved by adding oleic or caprylic acid, manganese acetate, or acetylene to the oil solution. Anti-detonants may be added. For examples, olive or castor oil is dissolved in benzol, toluol, white spirit, or petrol and methyl alcohol, phenol, manganese acetate and oleic acid are added. The solution is saturated with a mixture containing mostly hydrogen with oxygen and acetylene. The product is added to gasoline alone 'or with a mixture of gasoline, alcohol, benzol or heavy oils.
