Abstract
506,191. Reinforced - concrete floors; casting in situ. BLACK, W. H. Jan. 1, 1938, Nos. 48 and 21642. [Classes 20 (ii) and 20 (iv)] Relates to a method of constructing reinforced-concrete floors comprising erecting metal or reinforced-concrete joists A in parallel relation, supporting centring-arches D from the said joists to span from joist to joist, casting concrete G over the joists and arches, and removing the arches when the concrete has set. According to the invention, horizontal supporting-strips E are removably secured to the arches so as to run longitudinally of the arches and joists, and are supported from the joists upon or adjacent the lower flanges thereof; after the concrete G has set, the arches D are removed from the strips E, and a ceiling H is subsequent supported from the strips. The arches D shown in Fig. 1 are screwed to the strips.E which rest upon the toe portions C of metal strips B suspended from the top flanges of the joists A. The concrete G is reinforced by metal rods or mesh F, and on removal of the arches D after setting of the concrete, laths or plaster-boards are secured to the strips E to form the base of a plaster ceiling. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, reinforced-concrete flange strips J are supported on the lower flanges of the joists A by bent rods K projecting from the upper faces of the strips, and these strips J serve to support the strips E and arches D. In a further modification, the strips E may be shaped to engage the lower flanges of the joists. The arches D may be of steel or wood. The first Provisional Specification describes also the supporting of the.arches directly upon strips which are either of flat steel or other material hook-bolted or otherwise fastened to the bottom flanges of the joists, or of reinforced concrete having projecting rods adapted to be bent over the bottom flanges of the joists.
