Abstract

505,336. Sifting-apparatus. DEBONO, N. Aug. 25, 1938, No. 25038. [Class 117] Brushes mounted beneath a reciprocating sieve are given positive reciprocating motion and are so arranged that they engage the sieve when moved in one direction and are inoperative when moved in the opposite direction. In the form shown, the sieve 3 and its tray 23 are reciprocated by the eccentric 6 and the brushes 12 are in holders 11 secured by hinges 13 to a carrier 8 slidably mounted on guideways 9, the holders 11 having extensions pivoted to a connecting rod 15. The rod 15 is reciprocated from a crank 16 by levers 17, 18, 19 the brushes engaging the sieve for one direction of movement and being tilted as shown in chain lines for the other direction. The roof of the housing 26 is connected with air trunks for drawing air through the sieves and through adjustable valves above them. A slotted hood 31 is arranged over the sieves and its slots 32 are shrouded so that if any entrained particles drawn up from the sieves drop back on the hood they do not re-enter the hood.
