Abstract
505,205. Cycle lamps. LUCAS, Ltd., J., and HANMER, F. Nov. 6, 1937, No. 30519. [Classes 39 (ii) and 75 (iii)] The socket a of a cycle lamp for engaging a bracket on a cycle is made from rubber or other like resilient material and is contained wholly or mainly within the lamp casing b. As shown, the socket is made in the form of a flat tube in two parts. The upper part is secured to the battery-supporting plate c by angle strips g and rivets f passing through flanges e, the lower part having a groove engaging the casing b. A projection i extends through a hole in the plate c to provide a cushion for the battery d: A spring strip j may be provided to make contact with the lamp bracket and form an earth for current supplied to the lamp from a dynamo. In a modification, the socket is in the form of a rubber or like bush extending transversely through the casing to accommodate a rod forming part of the lamp bracket. The rod is secured by nuts thereon abutting against the ends of the bush or against the casing. The bush may be formed integrally with a battery cushioning block.
