504,980. Aircraft cabin windows. JUNKERS FLUGZEUG - UND - MOTORENWERKE AKT.-GES. June 1, 1938, No. 16386. Convention date, June 4, 1937. [Class 4] The boundary walls of an aircraft cockpit are provided with one or more domed windows disposed laterally of the longitudinal median plane of the cockpit, each enclosing a space sufficiently large to accommodate the head of at least one man. In one form, an aeroplane comprises a pressure cabin of circular crosssection and enclosed. in a shell 3 of elliptical cross-section. Domes 2 are distributed round the cockpit in a transverse plane and are so, arranged that tangents X-X to the body in this plane drawn from points X intersect at points S lying close to the shell of the body. Similarly, tangents in the longitudinal planes intersect at points fore and aft of the body. In a modification, two domes are provided, one on each side of a cockpit and are so arranged that an occupant may obtain downward or rearward vision by leaning in his seat. In the first form, the domes are wholly of transparent material; in the second, transparent. panes are mounted in frames.
