Abstract
504,568. Artificial rubber compositions. SCHARFF, G. E., and IMPERIAL CHEMICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. Oct. 26, 1937, No. 29272. [Class 70] Artificial rubber produced by polymerizing 2-chloro-I 3 butadiene; for example as described in Specifications 387,340 and 387,363, is plasticized by milling therein, preferably 1 to 5 per cent, one of the following viz., chlorinated naphthalene, gasoline-insoluble chlorinated -paraffin wax containing less than 48 per cent chlorine, chlorinated diphenyl, a chlorinated fatty oil e.g. chlorinated linseed oil, or a chlorinated long chain fatty acid e.g. chlorinated stearic acid. Compounding ingredients such as fillers or other synthetic' rubber-like material e.g. the material obtained by treating ethylene dichloride and glycerol dichlorohydrin with sodium polysulphides may also be incorporated during the mixing. The composition may be used for the production of gaskets, shock absorbers, roller covers, &c. Specifications 462,078, 457,310. 457,311, and 470,168 also are referred to.
