Abstract

504,444. Aeroplane toys. HORN, E. Sept. 19, 1938, No. 27319. [Class 132 (iii)] In a toy aircraft having spring driving-mechanism and means to eject a figure and attached parachute from the fuselage, the figure and parachute are released for ejection by means controlled by the running down of the spring driving-mechanism. The figure 7 carries, pivotally mounted on its feet, a member 10 engaging a slot 14 in a leaf spring 6, and a projection 12 on its chest engaging the underside of the cockpit 13. A thin loop spring 9 hinged to a projection 8 of the figure, engages a hook 11 on the member 10, and holds a folded parachute 15 against the back of the figure. A spring motor drives the propeller and landing wheels, so that the machine can run on a surface or fly suspended from a cord. As the spring 16 unwinds it rocks a lever 17 and through an arm 18 rocks the figure rearwardly to remove the projection 12 from engagement with the cockpit. The figure, thus released, is projected by the spring 6, the hook 11 releasing the spring 9 and the parachute 15 opening. In a modification, the arm 18 may be replaced by a flexible stay operated directly by the spring 16.
