[Class 64 (iii)] [Also in Group XXII] Heat-exchange tubes a particularly for entine oil coolers are formed with a number, preferably three or four, of helical ribs b, Fig. 6, of substantially semicircular cross-section. The ends of the tubes may be expanded into a square or other angular form by mandrels inserted into the tubes. The ribs may be formed by drawing the tubes through a die e, Figs. 7 and 9, mounted in a thrust block secured to a drawbench.
