[Classes 37 and 38 (i)] [Also in Group XXXV] A variable-inductance coil comprises a coil formed of a bare conductor and a contact member movable relatively to the coil conductor along its length, the contact member being arranged to make at least two independent contacts with the same turn of the coil conductor side by side with one another on a common contact line at right-angles to the length of the conductor. The contact member 252 is a blade of phosphor bronze or other metallic spring material and is tapered towards its free end to form a point 271 which is split and turned up into U-shape so as to form a bifurcated contact point with two independent nib-like contacting portions.
