Abstract

572,018. Thermionic valve holders. BRITISH SOLENOIDS, Ltd., TYRRELL, S. J., and YOUNG, A. C. Oct. 7, 1943, No. 16438. [Class 38 (i)] The contacts of a valve-holder each consisting of resilient arms to receive the valve pin between them, and a connection tab extending downwardly to be passed through a hole in the insulating base, are formed from strip metal by bending it to shape, the bends being made in a direction at right angles to the direction of rolling of the strip. Various forms of bifurcated contacts may thus be made having upright portions 1, Fig. 2, with inwardly directed contact surfaces 2 and a connection tag 4. This may be formed from the central folded portion of the strip, the ends 9 of the strip being bent outwardly or downwardly. In another form, Fig. 5, the connection tag 12 is formed as an extension of one end of the strip, the other end 13 serving to secure the contact by bending after passing it and the tag 12 through the same or separate holes in the insulating mount 14. The contacts may be mounted singly in insulating blocks mounted in a metal plate 6 or between a pair of plates.
