502,687. Electric signaling systems on vehicles. SMITH, J. G., and REARDON, R. Sept. 22, 1937, No. 25730. [Classes 40 (i; and 118 (ii)] A signalling device for passenger-carrying vehicles is provided with moans for advising passengers whether to alight or not and for advising intending passengers whether to board or not, and if the vehicle is full. When the vehicle is in motion, the main switch MS is closed by the driver to illuminate the compartment 15 to warn persons not to leave or board. Upon the vehicle stopping to pick up passengers, the driver reverses switch DS to give the " Get On " and " Get Off signals in the respective directions, switch CS being in its lower position. The conductor may operate switch CS to its upper position, the " Full" signal then being substituted for the Get On" signal and a tell-tale lamp 27 being lighted in view of the driver. The casing 10 may be arranged over the exit of a bus to be easily seen by passengers and intending passengers. The signals may be operated automatically according to whether the vehicle is in motion or not, and may be operated by the brake.
