Abstract

501,778. Packages. CHALMERS, J. W., and MOLINS MACHINE CO., Ltd. Nov. 15, 1937, No. 31403. [Class 94 (i)] In forming a package, the contents are first enclosed in an inner wrapper of paper lined lead or other metallic foil with ordinary closure flaps at each end. This package is wrapped in an intermediate wrapper 11 of cellulose derivative, which is applied as shown in Fig. 4, with the end 13 overlapping the end 12 to form a seam directed towards the sides of the packet. Narrow folds 14 are next formed and the resulting broad flap 16 is folded down on the flap 15 at each side of the package. The parts 12 .. 16 are secured by an adhesive or solvent. The whole is enclosed in an open ended container 17, Fig. 5, slightly shorter in length than the package. The intermediate wrapper may be formed with tearing tabs 19, adapted to project from the edge of the package, and with slits 20 extending in the general direction of tearing. A band 18 or revenue stamp may be applied to overlie the flap 13 and is secured at its ends to the outer container. The band may be arranged so that its edges are adjacent the tabs 19, and serve as guides for tearing.
