Abstract
500,136. Hair - washes. OSBORNE, GARRETT, & CO., Ltd. Nov. 10, 1937, No. 30888. Convention date, Nov. 11, 1936. [Class 81 (i)] [Also in Groups IV and III] A composite liquor for use in the treatment of hair or like keratin fibres to re-condition the fibres after washing them with soapy liquors comprises (a) an aliphatic alcohol containing at least 8 carbon atoms in the molecule, (b) an organic acid or an acid-reacting salt thereof, (c) a dispersing agent capable of emulsifying or dissolving metallic soaps in acid solution. In an example, an aqueous emulsion, suitable for rinsing hair or woollen textile material which has been washed with soap, contains cetyl alcohol, citric acid, oleyl-#-aminoethane sulphonic acid and sodium metaphosphate. Specification 271,071, [Class 91], is referred to. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 includes also the use as ingredient (a) of any fatty substance having a plasticizing action on the fibres, e.g. higher fatty acids, aliphatic aldehydes, fatty acid esters or aliphatic alcohols and the use as ingredient, (b) of hydrochloric or other mineral acid in sufficient dilution. The incorporation of tinting, dyeing, bleaching or curative agents or of inert filling materials such as casein or methylcellulose in the washing liquor is also included, and in additional examples are specified aqueous emulsions containing (1) cetyl alcohol, adipic acid and lauric sulphonate; (2) stearyl monoglyceride, heptylresorcinol, citric acid, sulphonated castor oil and sodium metaphosphate ; .(3) the mono-lauryl ester of stearic acid; a fatty acid sulphonate or myristic acid and the 4: 4<1>-aminohydroxy diphenylamine salt of adipic acid. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
