Abstract
499,875. Doors for resisting fluid pressure. TRIGGS, W. W. (Mauser Kommandit-Ges.) July 22, 1937, No. 20307. Addition to 499,961. [Class 123 (i)] [Also in Groups X and XXV] A gas-tight door of the kind disclosed in the parent Specification is provided with locking means modified to suit small single and double. wing doors. For small single doors, a single bolt 9 is actuated by a control disc combined directly with a handle 16 and provided with a cam slot 17 and cam 19 for effecting the clamping movement. The lever 9 is mounted in a flanged extension 10 of the lock body between the pin 12 and rest 11 and has a return spring 13 acting on it. When the door is open, a spring-pressed member 22 extending from the lever engages the door member 25 preventing actuation of the lock, this being deflected by the lip 26 when the door is closed. In the case of double-wing doors, an intermediate gasket 58, Fig. 12, seals the meeting edges and two flanges 60, 61 on one wing ensure registering of the edges. Strips 63, one on each wing, Fig. 14, may also be provided to ensure the edges meeting when closed. The securing means for double-wing doors comprises two locking levers actuated by one handle and disc 33, 35, Fig. 6. The levers 34 are secured against operation when the doors are open by springs 44, Fig. 9, these latter being released by engagement with the frame during the final closing movement. The gasket 58 is carried upwardly and widened at the corners and makes contact with downwardly curved ends of the gaskets on the remaining sides. The cam slot 17 has rounded edges and the handle spindle is provided with a gland 32 and packing washer 31, Fig. 3. Abutment stops such as are shown at 51, Fig. 6, limit the rotation of the handle 33.
