Abstract

499,482. Steam &c. turbines. BRITISH THOMSON-HOUSTON CO., Ltd. Sept. 10, 1938, No. 26461. Convention date, Sept. 11, 1937. [Class 110 (iii)] In order to deal with axial and radial displacements due to temperature changes the supporting blocks 4, 5 at the high-pressure end of a turbine 3 are mounted on transverse members 6, 7, which are yieldable in an axial direction. The bases 14 of these members arc pivoted on ridges 13 and are connected by links 15 so that they may tilt to take care of radial movements. The method of mounting the bases may be modified.
