Abstract

498,979. Coaster hubs; motor wheels. FICHTEL & SACHS AKT.-GES. April 8, 1938, No. 10772. Convention date, April 8, 1937. [Classes 79 (iii) and 136 (ii)] In a free-wheel and back-pedalling &c. brake hub driven by a motor mounted within a motor-cycle wheel, the driving reaction being transmitted to the cycle frame through a resilient member and a fixed part of the coaster hub, the resilient member consists of a rubber ring interposed between the casing of the driving-mechanism and the fixed part of the hub. The hub sleeve 18 containing free-wheel and brake mechanism is mounted on an axle 11 and is driven from the motor through change-speed gearing comprising a toothed wheel 21. A rubber ring 27a is interposed between the gear casing 22 and a member 25 secured by screws &c. to the fixed brakeexpanding bearing-cone 17, the member 25 having projections 28 extending through the slot in the fork Rand engaging the usual michoring-arm 31 which transmits the brake reaction from the cone 17 to the fork R. The rubber ring 27a is vulcanized to flanged rings 22a. 25a, which are subsequently secured to the parts 22, 25.
