[Class 16] In manifold transfer devices for use on typewriters, in which superposed continuous copy-sheets divided into forms by lines of weakness are threaded between carbon sheets secured to a flexible holder, a detachable stop-member, which interlocks with the holder, is provided to engage the platen of the typewriter and hold back the carbon sheets when the copy-sheets are drawn forwards prior to the tearing-off of the typed forms. The stop-member may thus be removed and attached to a new holder when the carbon sheets are used up. The holder 15, Fig. 4, is provided at its forward edge with two pockets 18 to receive hook-shaped members 28 on the ends of a strip 26, which is secured to the rear edge of each carbon sheet 16. The pockets are formed by bending over marginal extensions 20 and securing their lower ends to the holder by adhesive. To the rear edge of the holder is attached a strip 24, which serves to retain the detachable stop-member. The stop-member consists of two metal &c. strips 32, 34, Fig. 7, riveted together at their lower edges, and the strip 34 has a U-shaped portion in which the strip 24 is accommodated when the stop-member is slid on to the rear edge of the holder. The strip 32 of the stop-member carries a pair of edge-guides 42 for centring and guiding the copy-sheets. The forward edge 22 of the holder is cut on a curve or on oblique lines, so as to prevent it from buckling against the platen. A folded pack of copy-sheets may have a number of holders, with attached carbon sheets, interleaved therein at intervals representing the life of the carbon sheets, the detachable stop-member being applied to them in succession.
