Abstract
497,734. Springs. HOOGE, E. D'. March 23, 1937, No. 8504. Void. Convention date, March 23, 1936. [Class 108 (iii)] A spring for use in a laundry drying, smoothing, or pressing machine is secured in position by mounting the spring 1, Fig. 1, over a hole or recess 3 in one of the rollers or plates, inserting in the spring a hollow sleeve or fitting 2, the flanged end of which engages one or more coils of reduced diameter at the lower end of the spring and the body portion of which passes into the hole or recess, and finally expanding the sleeve so that the body portion engages the wall of the hole. In another form, Fig. 2, the spring is mounted in the hole 6 and an externally screw-threaded sleeve 8 is screwed into the spring and forces the end turns against the wall of the hole. The spring may have a series of coils of large diameter followed by a series of smaller diameter for engaging the holes and the top coil in each construction may have a diameter greater than that of the remaining coils,
