Abstract

497,285. Powder distributers; stoppers. BARLOW, R., and JACKSON, J. M. June 15, 1937, No. 16669. [Classes 18 and 125 (iii)] A container, primarily intended for powder, comprises a body part 1 and a lid 3, one or both of which is or are resilient so that, on pressure being applied, a valve 14 opens, and the contents are expelled. The outer end of the valve closes normally, the outlet from the container, but when the latter is disposed as shown, the valve drops by gravity and the contents can flow through the space between the stem of the valve and the sides of the outlet. This space is provided by making the valve stem round and the outlet square or vice versa. A closure cap containing a resilient or compressible sealing disc can be screwed on to the cup-like member 7 in which the outlet is formed, or the cap may simply slide on in which case, the member 7 is provided with vertical ribs. The container is made of metal or rubber and is of oval, triangular, circular, &c. shape, and either the body or the lid may be domed or they may be concave and convex respectively.
