Abstract

497,223. Vehicle anti-dazzle screens. SLEIGH, H. L., CHESTON, A. S., and BOOTH, J. H. June 11, 1937, Nos. 16185 and 18513. [Class 103 (ii)] [Also in Group XXV] The bearing shoulder 19 of a shank 17 supporting a sun vizor is held on a seat formed in an attachment bracket 26 by a spring 27 acting between the bracket 26 and a washer 28 held by an integral head 21 of the shank 17. The head 21 passes through a hole in the washer 28 which is then turned so that the head may be located in the channel 29. The channel 29 may be replaced by four projections pressed up from the washer and a U-shaped key 31 may be used to lock the washer in place. The washer 28 is also provided with notches 30 so that a hollow operating key, used to compress the spring 27, may rotate the washer when it is desired to break the joint. The shank 17 has a loop 18 fitted between the loops 13, 14 of the part 10 attached to the vizor. The pintle 22 may be resilient in form and may be a spring, as shown, or a split hollow tube or rod. A number of forms of pintle are described. This pintle is adapted to fit tightly in the loops 13, 14 and resiliently in the loop 18 which, for this purpose, may be split as at 23 or have a slightly enlarged bore. A domed cap 24 is used to close the open end of the loop 14. The cap 24 may be replaced by a stud having a shank engaging the spring 22.
