Abstract
496,968. Photo -electric exposure meters. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., TURNER, H. C., and BANNER, E. H. W. June 11, 1937, No. 16329. Addition to 458,695, [Group XX]. [Class 40 (iii)] In a photographic exposure meter of the kind claimed in the parent Specification, comprising an indicating instrument 2 having a linear characteristic, the movable member carrying two of the scales (i.e. the disc shown in the parent Specification as carrying the aperture and platespeed scales) is arranged to actuate a variable resistance 15 which shunts the instrument and which is graded so that for regular movements of the said member the pointer 5 of the instrument moves irregularly, its movement being proportional to a special characteristic such as the logarithm of the output current of the photoelectric cell 1. This arrangement is stated to give greater accuracy than with the prior device in which the magnet poles and/or core are specially shaped to make the instrument logarithmic.
