524,618. Electric indicating systems. WILKINS, S. R. Feb. 4, 1939, No. 3780. [Class 40 (i)]. An arrangement for indicating how many seats &c. out of a total number are vacant comprises a circuit c including in series a number of resistances r which are inserted or removed by switches s associated with the seats n, the current flowing in the circuit being measured by a milliammeter m which is calibrated to give the required indication. The switches s may conveniently be closed by the depression of tip-up seats, and if desired hand-operated switches may be fitted in parallel to provide for the reserving of seats. The instrument m is adjusted by means of series and shunt resistances f, v so that the accuracy of the reading on the scale increases as the number of vacant seats decreases. A marginal relay in the circuit may be arranged to operate a lamp indicator n when all the seats are full. If A.C. is employed, it is applied through a transformer and rectifier to the instrument m.
