Abstract
496,374. Conveyers. LEHMANN, F. B. May 23, 1938, No. 15336. Convention date, June 4, 1937. [Class 78 (i)] A conveyer system for cooling, heating or drying objects, more particularly for cooling articles coated with chocolate, comprises two conveyers one of which crosses the path of the other and takes from and restores to it the articles. A conveyer 3, consisting of two parallel endless chains, &c. receives the articles from a coating machine 7 on to sheets of paper, wax-cloth, &c. which have at one end cross-bars the tips of which are engaged by projections on the chains. The transverse conveyer comprises a plurality of independent trays 1 which follow a closed path through a cooling &c. chamber 2. Figs. 4 and 5 show one form of mechanism whereby the trays 1 are circulated. The top trays are moved upward on one side, and downward on the other, by endless chains. 11 provided with angle irons 10 which take under ledges on the tray sides. The bottom two trays rest on pivoted arms 12 in conjunction with lifting and lowering platforms 14, 21 connected together by a link 24, and the lateral transfer at top and bottom is effected by pushers 25, 17 on endless moving chains 26, 18. In a modified form the chains 11, &c. are replaced by reciprocating rods 31, 32, Fig. 7, which support and move the trays 1 by taking under projecting and aligning edges 29, 30 thereof. In a further modification, the columns of trays move alternately, and the bottom tray of one column falls on a conveyer band which transfers it to the other column.
