495,990. Casting-machines. TRIGGS, W. W. (Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-N³rnberg Akt.-Ges.) Sept. 22, 1937, No. 25683. [Class 83 (i)] A chill mould for producing continuous rods of magnesium alloys or other light metal consists of an endless band 1 which is wound up to form hollow rotating cylinder 2 supported on rollers 3, 4, as much of the band being unwound at the bottom as is wound up at the top. The band preferably comprises a series of jointed segment-like links 8 ... 11, Figs. 2 and 3, with flat faces 22 adapted to engage abutments 17, 18, 19 of a ring 20 rotated by a motor 21. The mould segments are pressed together by rollers 15, 16.
