Abstract

495,320. Filters. VOKES, C. G. May 7, 1937, No. 13096. [Class 46] [Also in Group XXVIII] A filter, particularly for use in aircraft, comprises a pleated element consisting of a layer of cellulose wadding &c. between layers of buckram or other stiff cloth. The element 9, 10 may be encased in a'box of fibreboard &c. having rectangular openings cut in a pair of opposite faces. The pleats are spaced by tongues 14 bent from fibreboard strips secured to these faces by interposed metal strips 18 having tongues 15 which support the tongues 14. The elements may be oriented so that dust loosened by vibration falls clear of the filter under gravity. The filter casing may form one side of an openended tapering passage allowing escape of rain, sand, &c. from the entering air. Specifications 329,099, 367,009, and 401,291 are referred to.
