Abstract
494,879. Roller - - and - breast mills. AEBI, J. March 7, 1938, No. 7120. Convention date, Aug. 13, 1937. [Class 59] A pair of grinding-bars is moved toward or from a grinding roller through the intermediary of a hinged or pivoted connection, preferably a ball-and-socket joint, interposed between a common adjusting-member and the grinding-bars. As shown, two breast bars 4, 5, of which the area of the bar 4 in contact with the roller 1 is wider than that of the bar 5, are mounted by ball-heads 16 in a channel 14 which is secured to an adjusting- screw 9 by a ball-and-socket joint 10, 12, 13. The bars. are pressed together laterally by a screw 3. Intermediate pressure devices shown in Fig. 3, may be arranged to apply pressure only to the bars by means of projections on the bars engaged by a conical plate 11<1> held on the ball joint 101 b springs 13<1>
