Abstract

494,812. Ball bearings. FONDANAICHE, R. J. Feb. 24, 1938, No. 5903. Convention date, Feb. 24, 1937. [Class 12 (i)] In a multiple-row ball bearing one of the bearing parts E has cavities abcde, for receiving the balls B in an assembling position, each cavity having a curved base cde of radial depth at least equal to the diameter of a ball and an inclined portion bc, the other bearing part F having tracks, the walls gh, hi, of which are inclined at a greater angle to the bearing axis than the inclined portion bc. The balls are assembled in the cavity cde then the member F is slid into or over the member E into the position shown in Fig. 2. The assembly is then inverted and the parts F, E, are moved relatively to one another so that the balls take up their working position shown in Fig. 4. The bearing is suitable for the mounting of airscrew blade with a variable pitch.
