Abstract
494,271. Weighing-apparatus. HOTSON, J. H. April 24, 1937, No. 11819. [Class 143] A weighing-device consists of a pencil, pen or other elongated article provided near one end with a twojawed resilient clip 2, 3 pivoted on a pin 6 and adapted to hold a letter &c. 4 as shown in Fig. 1, or to be folded against the body of the pencil as shown in Fig. 2, for clipping on to the edge of a pocket. The body has a series of graduated notches 5 on which it may be fulcrumed during weighing. The clip may be retained by sliding a metal tube 13 into engagement with a hooked portion 11 but when released by drawing out the metal tube falls into a vertical position. The tube 13 holds an eraser 14 and is used for storing reserve leads. The part 2 of the clip may be faced with material of the same appearance as the body 1, the material being arranged to come flush with the body and hiding the part 2 when in the closed position.
