[Class 16] A memorandum appliance comprises a bookshaped casing A provided with a hinged cover B, two interchangeable spindles M mounted within the casing for winding a note strip, a writing platen or support F over which the strip passes, pulleys H, H<2> on the ends of the spindles and connected for driving by means of a belt K, and means for operating the pulleys comprising a milled-edged wheel L connected to a gearwheel J which meshes with a pinion I on one of the spindles M. Two hinged lids D are adapted to cover the spindles M whereby only the part of the note strip lying over the support F is visible. The casing, cover, and framework of the appliance are made of wood, and the exterior is covered with leather. The ends of the note strip are clipped to the spindles by spring strips N. The cover B is held in the closed position by a clasp.
