Abstract
493,749. Draughting -machines. LITTLE, C. H., and LITTLE, C. H. March 25, 1938, No. 9145. [Class 97 (iii)] Counterpoise mechanism for both sections A, B of the parallel motion linkage is enclosed in a casing 15, attached to. and extending along the upper edge of the drawing board. As shown, the parallel motion linkage is of the wheel and band type. The lower section B is balanced bv a cable 40 attached at one end to a wheel 42, fixed to the frame 18, passing round a wheel 41, pivoted coaxially with the anchor wheel 10 of the upper section A, and attached at the other end to a wheel 33 pivoted in the casing 15. Rotation of the wheel 33 is restrained by duplicate springs 32 attached at one end to an eccentric point on the wheel 33 and at the other end to one end of a lever 46. The upper section A is balanced by duplicate springs 27 attached at one end to an eccentric point on the frame 12 and at the other end to the other end of the lever 46. The latter is pivotally connected to the end of a threaded rod .47 which may be adjusted longitudinally by a handle and gearing 50 to alter simultaneously the tensions of both sets of springs 32, 27. A clearance for the vertical scale E is provided between the left-hand end of the casing 15 and the drawing board.
