493,388. Glass manufacture. NAAMLOOZE VENNOOTSCHAP PHILIPS' GLOEILAMPENFABRIEKEN. Aug. 3, 1937, No. 21387. Convention date, Aug. 5, 1936. [Class 56] [Also in Groups XL and XI] In an incandescent lamp or discharge tube having supply conductors sealed into a pinch or similar small portion of the envelope, this portion is made of glass having a dark colour for the purpose of increasing thermal radiation. An ordinary sealing glass containing, for example, SiO2 57 per cent, Na2O 7 per cent, K2O 5 per cent, PbO 29À4 per cent, and Al2O3 1À5 per cent, may be made brown by addition of manganese dioxide and iron oxide (Fe3O4).
