[Class 87 (ii)] [Also in Group XXIV] Apparatus for rolling dough or other plastic material comprises a roller 5 mounted in fixed bearings 6 and an adjustable roller 7 mounted on sleeve like bearings 8 adapted to slide on columns 2 mounted at each side of a table, the rollers being maintained in permanent driving engagement. The movable bearings 8 are connected by a transverse bar 10 and the columns 2 are joined by a bar 4 connected to the bar 10 by screw studs 11 which are rotated to adjust the roller 7 by bevels 12, 13, a spindle 14 and a hand-wheel 16. The roller 5 is driven from an electric motor and gears on the rollers are connected through a pair of intermediate gears mounted on a two-armed lever pivoted to the lower roller shaft and connected by a link to the upper roller shaft so as to maintain the rollers in driving engagement. Four spring-pressed scrapers 30<1> are provided. A pointer 29 indicates the spacing of the rollers and the wheel 16 may be graduated for fine adjustment. Shoulders 33 prevent oil passing to the rollers. A guard 34 is adapted to protect either side of the rollers and is pivotally mounted on the shaft 14 and connected by a rod 39 to the motor switch so that movement of the guard controls the direction of rotation of the rollers so as to protect the entry side thereof and so as to stop the motor when both sides are unprotected. The guard is maintained in each of three positions by a spring-pin engaging a toothed sector thereon. According to the first Provisional Specification, the rollers are directly connected by gears with deep teeth and are provided with a groove or recess to prevent passage of oil thereto.
