Convention dates, March 17, 1936 and Sept. 30, 1936 [Class 42 (ii)] [Also in Group XIII] A fabric or other web B as it leaves a drying- apparatus A is rubbed by a roller &c. C, driven by a motor H, the speed of the motor H being varied inversely as the speed of the web B by a governor D and rheostat so that the static charge of electricity on the roller C or on the web as indicated on the scale E, is dependent only on the moisture content of the web. This indication may be used to control a variable-speed gear K in the drive to the drying apparatus A so that the web will be delivered uniformly dried. The degree of drying may be adjusted by a hand-controlled variablespeed gear G in the drive of the roller C.
