Abstract
491,566. Valves. SOC. ANON. DES CHARBONNAGES DE LA GRANDE BACNURE. March 3, 1937, No. 6330. Convention date, March 4, 1936. Addition to 474,903. [Class 135] [Also in Groups II and I] The discharge through an evacuation nozzle of deposits of materials formed in liquids is controlled by means of an elongated shaped body mounted wholly or substantially wholly outside the opening of the nozzle and having a tapered end directed towards the opening. The body is of substantially similar cross section to the opening and is mounted by means of a supporting member which has a seat or support for the body accurately centred with respect to the opening. In the form shown in Fig. 1, the nozzle 11, the lower part 31 of which may be detachable, is provided with ears 32 which, through columns 33, carry a ring 34 in which is threaded a sleeve 35 having radial members 37 which are shaped at their inner ends to form a conical seat for the body 14. Handles 36 are provided for adjustment of the position of the sleeve 35 to bring the body 14 nearer to or further away from the opening 13. In the form shown in Fig. 3, the ring 34 is provided with radial members 39 terminating in a central ring 40 through which passes a screw threaded shaft 41, on which the body 14 is mounted either directly or with an interposed spring 42 which is automatically depressed if the weight of the discharge increases. The nozzle may be conical as shown or may have parallel or slightly divergent side walls, and it may terminate in a divergent portion as shown at 29, Fig. 1, and /or be formed with a convergent or more convergent portion 30 upstream of the opening.
