Abstract
490,160. Separating dust from air. CATTANEO, G., and CATTANEO, G. July 14, 1937, No. 19568. Convention date, July 14, 1936. [Class 8 (ii)] Air flowing through an inlet duct 1 impinges at right-angles on a moving surface such as the surface of a drum 11 or a travelling belt, which is moistened by oil applied either by immersion as shown, or by a wick or roll transferring the oil from a bath, the oil film collecting the dirt, and the clean air being reflected back to an outlet 3 which may supply an internal-combustion engine. An adjustable comb 6 regulates the oil thickness, and a comb 19 9 removes the dirty oil; the comb 19 and the drum surface may be grooved. The drum may turn on a vertical axis and be fed internally with oil seeping through its perforated cloth-covered surface. The lower part of the casing may be separably secured by a belt 13.
