Abstract
489,951. Pianofortes; desks ; lighting. CHALLEN & SON, Ltd., C. H., and EVANS, W. Feb. 5, 1937, No. 3470. [Class 88 (ii)] [Also in Groups XI and XIV] An upright pianoforte with fixed key bed has the preferably inclined top-door 12 wholly disposed rearwardly of the forward edges 11 of the side walls both when the instrument is in use and when it is out of use, and movably mounted so that it can be removed or swung out of position to permit attention to the strings or action. The music rest 18 extends across the whole width of the top-door. Lamps 17 are located in the recesses formed between the top-door and the side walls, and may be controlled by a switch operated by movement of the preferably twopart keyboard lid 13. The top-door may be vertical, or partly vertical and partly inclined. British Specification 470,793, and U.S.A. Specification 2,058,001, are referred to.
