Abstract

489,502. Unit air - heaters. SMITH, W. A. D., and WEBB, N. H. Jan. 29, 1937, No. 2674. [Class 137] A fan 20 driven by an electric motor 21 housed in a cylindrical casing 1 draws in air through apertures 19 and an annular passage 18, and blows it through a heating element 23 and a spreading device comprising eccentrically mounted flared rings or deflectors 6. A domed member 13 closes one end, and a disc 11 is arranged within the smallest ring 6. These rings are of double frusto-conical formation 7, 8, and are secured together by a bolt 9. A main switch 27 and a heater switch 28 are provided, and so arranged that the fan 20 may be used without the heater 23, but the heater cannot be used unless the fan is in operation.
