Abstract

488,576. Vehicle sanding devices ; vehicle lamps. WHITLING, C. C. Jan. 11, 1937, No. 766. [Class 103 (iii)] [Also in Group XI] Sanding or like apparatus comprises a sand &c. container carried by or forming part of the mudguard of a road vehicle and arranged so that sand may be ejected on to the vehicle wheel by gravity, by compressed air, or exhaust gases, or otherwise. In some cases, the ejection-device may be adjustable so that sand may be brought into one of several positions, e.g. to the inside and outside of the vehicle wheel and beneath the front of the wheel. As shown, a container 5 is mounted on a mudguard 3 and is provided with a lid 10 and an ejection orifice 6 controlled by a slide 7 operated by Bowden cable 8 from the dashboard. The container may be arranged within a vehicle head-lamp casing and the sand &c. ejected and distributed through the lamp bracket or support.
