Abstract

487,343. Receivers. BEHRENS, T. A., and WESTINGHOUSE BRAKE & SIGNAL CO., Ltd. Dec. 18, 1936, No. 34905. [Class 40 (iv)] [Also in Group XXXVI] In a telephone receiver a rectifier of the dry surface contact type is connected across the actuating winding and is accommodated within the earpiece receiver. In a modification, two rectifiers d, f are oppositely connected in parallel across the actuating winding a, and in the embodiment shown in Fig. 3 the rectifiers are provided with conducting strips o which are secured beneath the terminals b, c of the windings a. In a further modification a single rectifier unit with a centre tap is connected so that the halves of the unit are oppositely connected across the actuating windings. The rectifier comprises a number of disc rectifier elements i separated from the turned over end m of a suitably lined casing g by an insulating disc k<1> and pressed against contact disc n<1> by a spring j which is engaged by a contact disc n<2> separated from the opposite end of the casing by a second insulating disc k<2>.
