Abstract

487,231. Loom picking motions. TEFAG TEXTIL - FINANZ AKT.-GES. Dec. 14, 1936, No. 34256. Convention date, Feb. 28. [Class 142 (iii)] In a picking-motion wherein a picking lever 1 is operated by releasing a locked spring, the residual energy of the picking mechanism is dissipated, after the pick, by a hydraulic or pneumatic dashpot which permits a continued movement of the picking mechanism after completing its effective picking stroke. As shown in Fig. 1, the lever 1 is operated by a spring 6 controlled by toggle mechanism 21, 22, and carries a lug engaging a plunger 11 that is movable in a sleeve 12 within a liquid containing tank 13. On completion of the effective picking stroke I-II the plunger enters a recess 14 in the tank base and forces the liquid past a spring controlled valve 16 through a conduit 17 into the tank. When the plunger moves upwards, the recess is brought into communication with the tank by bores 20 and a valve 19 in the plunger. In a modification, Fig. 3, the lever 1 is operated by a spring 6 engaging a piston 32 in a cylinder 33, the pressure on opposite sides of the piston being equalized, when in position I, by recesses 38 in the cylinder wall and by means of a conduit 40 controlled bv the cross-head. On release of the spring, the crank 1 moves sharply to the left and on passing the recesses 38, compresses air in the chamber 34 until completion of the effective picking stroke (II) and further until position III is reached when the chambers 34 and 36 are brought into communication by recesses 37 in the cylinder wall. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 comprises also a form wherein the picking lever 1, Fig. 5 (Cancelled), is carried by one end of a shaft 41, the other end of which is secured against rotation at 42, and is connected by a rod 44, Fig. 6 (Cancelled), to a crank-pin 45 on a disc 54. Pivoted braking devices 50, 51, acted on by springs 52, 53, permit rotation of the disc in the direction of the arrow 55 only, and a driving chain 5 acts through dogs 58, 59 on the disc. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
