Abstract
486,970. Cables. CALLENDER'S CABLE & CONSTRUCTION CO., Ltd., BRAZIER, L. G., and HAMILTON, G. M. Dec. 19, 1936, No. 34927. [Class 36] In a cable of the type in which a flexible wall applied to the outside of the dielectric separates the space within the cable sheath into two regions, one of which contains the conductor and impregnated dielectric and the other a fluid, the wall consists of an extruded tube of a polyvinyl halide, with or without plasticizers and fillers such as tricresyl phosphate, dodecyl phthalate, dibenzyl naphthalene and talc. The fluid may be either a gas or liquid and may be at super atmospheric pressure. In the construction shown, the cable comprises an oval conductor 1, impregnated paper insulation 2, an extruded flexible wall 3 of a material having a polyvinyl halide as its principal constituent, a conducting layer 4 serving as an electric screen, and a reinforced circular sheath 5. A fluid, which may be under substantial pressure, fills the spaces 6 between the conducting layer and the sheath. Specifications 264,135, [Class 36], and 436,295 are referred to.
