[Class 75 (i)] In a blue flame stove having a mixture chamber formed by perforated walls 9, Fig. 1, constituting a widened prolongation of the wick tube 2, an inclined deflector 13 adjacent one wall 9 directs air towards an imperforate plate 11 substantially continuous with the other wall 9 so that the flame is held in contact with the plate 11. The flame plate 11 may form a continuation of an air deflector 12 and additional inclined deflectors 14 may be provided on each side of the mixture chamber. The perforated walls 9 may be secured to side plates 5 mounted on the oil reservoir 1 and the flame plate 11 and deflectors 13, 14 may be pivoted on rods 10 carried by the plates 5. The inclination of the deflector 13 may be determined by an adjustable stop 15. The plates 5 may be fitted with bars to support a cooking vessel. In a modification suitable for heating a steam generator of a room heating system or the vaporizer of a stove and a thermal pump supplying the vaporizer, the flame plate is divided into two parts by side walls, and one part is adjustable in inclination relatively to the other part. Fig. 7 shows an annular wick stove in which a flaring cone 34 forms the air deflector and a slightly coned disc 33 forms the flame plate. The cone 34 is supported by a rod or skeleton cone 35 and additional air deflecting cones 14 are provided on the perforated walls 32 of the mixture chamber.
