Abstract

486,132. Stretching rubber on supports. GREEN, C. E., and REYERSBACH, C. D. Jan. 7, 1937, No. 529. [Class 70] An inner core is inserted in an outer sleeve of resilient material such as rubber by enclosing the core within a chamber, connecting one end of the sleeve to an opening in the chamber, inflating the sleeve by fluid pressure to such a size as to allow the core to pass freely into it and relieving the pressure. Apparatus for manufacturing flexible reinforced tubing as for stethoscopes, comprises a nipple 15 to which one end of the rubber tubing is attached, the other end being turned over the lip of tube 18. The core 10, 11, 12, 13, to be inserted is positioned in a sealed tube 26. On applying pressure through nipple 15, the rubber tubing expands, air from the annular space surrounding it escaping at 29, and the core 10 drops into it. On releasing the pressure as through a release valve or by dismantling the apparatus, the tubing shrinks on to the core. Specification 207,176, [Class 99 (ii)], is referred to.
